NEW YORK – Federal authorities say a Canadian man who earned hundreds of thousands of dollars to work for the notorious “Silk Road” drug trafficking website is extradited from Thailand.
They say Roger Thomas Clark, were arrested in December 2015, in Thailand, arrived in New York Friday.
Clark waited for an appearance in Manhattan federal court faced with an indictment charging him with playing a major role in the website by the advise of the founder, Ross Ulbricht. It is not clear who will represent Clark.
Ulbricht is where life in prison after his conviction. He ran the site from January 2011 to October 2013.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said the fresh unsealed indictment alleges Clark was a confidant to Ulbricht, and advising him on how to maximize profits and threaten violence to thwart enforcement of the law.
