As a former Macy’s employee accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of shopping in a Pennsylvania mall, then, is hiding in the ceiling of the store for an hour, according to police.
Nicholas Redmond, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Sunday at around 4:30 a.m. after police were called to Macy’s at the King of Prussia Mall. There were reports of a suspicious person looking into the locked store, in accordance with the Upper Merion Police Department.
Police said the caller was a regional safety representative for Macy’s.

Officers conducted an extensive search that included K9s and police, according to the release.

“After nearly five-and-a-half hours, the patrol, the officers of the Upper Merion located the suspect hiding in the ceiling of the first floor,” the police said, adding that Redmond had more than $7,000 dollars in cash was taken from the store’s cash register.
“The officers were very shocked, they had received information from a number of the foreign entrances in the ceiling area, and as soon as they have been, I think, though, at the moment, there is still a chance that he was there, and she just couldn’t believe that someone went to that length to hide it from them,” the Upper Merion Township Police Lt. Brendan Brazunas said, when WPVI-TV reported.

Redmond was an employee at Macy’s, police said.
Redmond later confessed that he’d stolen the money two other times this month, for a total of more than $12,000, the researchers said.
