Every year hundreds of questions at ANWB about foreign traffic fines
The legal experts of the ANWB come every year, more than five hundred questions about foreign traffic fines, which in Dutch on the mat fall.
Most of the questions are about the low emission zones in Italian city centres, where people could easily incur a penalty if they, for example, driving around looking for a parking space. On ignoring the signs that the “environmental model (this’zona trafica limitato”), there are high penalties.
The Dutch also asking a lot of questions about fines for speeding in Germany and the driving ban that sometimes is coupled. Such a ban on driving, for one to three months is imposed, applies only in Germany, but it should be on the licence be registered.
The questions on the PRE-expertplatform are mainly about the possibilities to object to the authenticity of the fine and the method of payment. Frequently also complained that the penalty is not in an intelligible language has been prepared.
