Europol dismantles large malwaremaker
Europol has a ontwikkelaarsgroep dismantled. The group of cyber criminals created malware that worldwide thousands of computers are infected, without that security software could detect.
The Spanish and British police, with the help of Europol, five people arrested at the malwaregroep were involved. During a search in Spain, six hard drives, a laptop, two external storage devices, and eight so-called Bitcoin miners seized.
According to Europol, the group was responsible for the design, develop and sell malware. With the software knew other criminals malicious software such as keyloggers and viruses to spread. It is not disclosed who the malware is sold.
The cybercriminals sold their software since 2013 on internet forums. Europol came to them in 2015 on the track and began an investigation that led to the arrest.
