Europol asks with pictures of objects to aid in kinderpornozaken
The international criminal police organisation Europol has to share pictures of child abuse online. It is limited to photos of objects. The children are not to be seen.
So you see photos of, for example, a shampoofles, parts of wallpaper, pieces of clothing and a plastic bag. Europol hopes that citizens on the basis of these objects can help with identification of the location and the rescue of the victims.
Small tips can sometimes help to have a case to solve, says Europol. A Miffy toy in the background of a photo, led the American police in the matter of Robert M. in 2010, for example, to the Netherlands. The photo was shared through Interpol and the hug was by agents recognized as English, then the ball was set rolling.
On the website of Europol are twenty photos published, coming from different European studies. Under the heading of ‘Stop Child Abuse-Trace an Object”, asks the European investigation people or they are shown the objects to recognize.
