Europa League-finalist United deeply shocked by attack in Manchester

Manchester United has Tuesday morning shocked to respond to the suicide attack Monday night in the Manchester Arena after the concert of the American tieneridool Ariana Grande. It came to 22 people.

“We are deeply shocked by the terrible events last night in the Manchester Arena. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved”, tweeted the football club from the English town, that Wednesday in Stockholm, the final of the Europa League playing against Ajax.

UEFA joined in the words of United. “Our thoughts are with the victims and the families of the affected persons”, wrote the European football body, also on Twitter.

Also Ajax put all the people involved in the attack a heart under the belt. “The heart of Amsterdam, near Manchester. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved relatives.”

The general manager of the Amsterdam club and former goalkeeper of United, Edwin van der Sar, did his say on his own account. “My heart and respect go out to the people who have given their lives or have loved ones lost in the attack of yesterday in Manchester.”

United flies as well as Ajax Tuesday to Stockholm for the final. It is not yet known whether the two finalists Wednesday for the final battle with rouwbanden play or with a minute of silence for the victims of the attack to commemorate.

Not only United, Ajax and UEFA expressed their disbelief about the attack, the rest of sportminnend England could the news barely contain.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was one of the first who, via Twitter its sympathy expressed to the relatives.

“I want my deepest condolences extend to the families of the victims. This is a sad day for the city of Manchester,” said the Belgian.

Also his club had heard of. “With great sadness we hear of the terrible events in the Arena. Our hearts go out to all involved and to all the emergency services in our city.”
