Esmée Dekker plays Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady
Esmée Dekker the role of Eliza Doolittle play in a new version of the musicalklassieker My Fair Lady. The musical word directed by Paul van Ewijk and goes in november.
For Dekker is Eliza’s first starring role, after she has played in The Jantjes, Delicious lasts the longest and A Chorus Line. Chris Tates gets the other lead role, that of Henry Higgings, the bekakte professor who is a lady wants to make the popular bloemenverkoopster Eliza.
Sjoukje Hooymaayer, that great fame acquired when doctor Van der Ploeg in the tv comedy, Say ‘ns Aaa, is in the same production Mrs. Higgins and returns after many years back in the theater. Alfred van den Heuvel plays Colonel Pickering and Han Oldigs show as Alfred Doolittle.
My Fair Lady was in the early sixties, for the first time in the Netherlands in a translation by Seth Gaaikema and was with Margriet de Groot and especially by Wim Sonneveld and Johan Card a success, as well as the plate that it was made.
