Escaped snake is caught on the bus frightens passengers: “Never back on a bus again’

A snake caught hitching a ride by fellow bus-travellers in the last week.

The winding fare-dodger was spotted on a McGills Bus in the Scottish town of Paisley on Friday evening.

As soon as the customers concerned, pointed to the orange and white corn snake, who had made his way to the window sill, bus operator Mick McArthur went to retrieve it.

“Mick took one look at him and said that he thought that it was just a corn snake,” Ralph Roberts, McGill’s managing director, told the BBC News website, “He lifted it up and kept it safe before it could disrupt one of the passengers.”

The harmless snake had reportedly escaped from its owner in the bag from earlier that day.

McGill is placed on a shot of the unusual rider on the Facebook and Twitter pages – garnering hundreds of shares and comments.

“Sure, do you mean Paissssssssley!

(Welcome on board of the McGill’ssssssssss Busesssssssss…,” one person joked on Facebook.

“I have an absolute heart attack if I saw this on the bus!!!” another wrote about the discovery.

“I never go back on a bus again,” a scared customer wrote.

“Wonder if his car broke doon, and he had to take a bus,” another joked.

Many of the commenters also took the time to cheer on McArthur for his quick actions and remain calm under pressure.

“Well done Mick,” wrote.

“Good work Micky,” another seconded.

The corn snake has now been returned to its owner, the Scottish SPCA reported on Facebook.
