Erwin Provoost is the new director-intendant of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF). That the Board of Directors of the Fund Monday night published. On 1 January 2018 following Provoost Pierre Drouot, who since October 2005, the VAF leads.
“The 63-year-old Provost is no stranger to the film and television sector. He studied film directing and production at the RITCS in Brussels. In 1981, he founded the production company Multimedia (later MMG), with which he makes a name as a producer of Brussels by Night (1983) Istanbul (1985) and Crazy Love (1987). Later follow also a number of commercial successes, with the Urban-movies Hector (1987) and Koko Flanel (1990) and De zaak Alzheimer (2003).
On fictievlak produces MMG in 1997 the tv series Wind force 10 and from autumn 1999 also the series Flikken. In 2005, MMG was acquired by Eyeworks. In 2010 Provoost, CEO of Eyeworks Belgium, to he in 2013 leaves and goes to work as director of media at WPG Uitgevers.
His task consists to the traditional ‘paper’ publishing company, along with Peter Quaghebeur to a media pool to build. “I’m proud of the magnificent work of Pierre Drouot is allowed to continue,” says Erwin Provoost. “I also look forward to work together with a strong and well-functioning team. The continuity ensuring is therefore the first command. But the audiovisual sector is in full (r)evolution and the flemish audiovisual fund, together with producers, directors and authors in the coming years, an answer should formulate.”
The current director-intendant Pierre Drouot is pleased with the appointment of the Provost: “The final decision of the Board of Directors for Erwin Provoost was not an obvious decision: strong personalities have always supporters and opponents. But a distinct personality, with strategic insight, tactical sense, diplomatic talent, broad experience and an independent attitude is what the VAF and the independent audiovisual sector in Flanders will need. The last six months of my command are now, what concerns me, in a positive perspective.”
