A Devil Wears Prada-the musical is in the works, reports Playbill. It is not yet clear when the musical based on the popular book and the movie that followed on Broadway is expected.
Lauren Weisberger released in 2003, a book on (her) experiences as a greenhorn in the fashion world that six months on the New York Times Bestseller List would grace. The Devil Wears Prada, the young journalist Andy Sachs, was an instant hit, and three years later came the eponymous film. In the bioscoopprent played Anne Hathaway in the role of Andy, while Meryl Streep in a masterly way the dreaded Runway-editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly put it – an acting performance that made her an Oscar nomination resulted.
Broadway would apparently like to get a small bit of the success of The Devil Wears Prada and tapped before, Elton John (The Lion King, Billy Elliot, …) and
Paul Rudnick (I hate Hamlet, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told,..) on the shoulder. The two say incredibly excited to have their teeth turn in the story is that next Rudnick, “seems made for Broadway”. (KS)
