In a speech at the National Press Club, the Massachusetts senator stated that “the corruption seeped into the fabric of our government” and said, “like a cancer eating away at our democracy, corruption under the Americans trust in our government is undermined.”
She said her proposal would lock “the revolving door” between big business and the Federal government, and stop self-dealing by legislators.
“Today, I am introducing the most ambitious anti-corruption legislation proposed in Congress since Watergate,” she claimed.
The legislation, the Anti-corruption and Public Integrity Act, to ban members of Congress, Cabinet secretaries, Federal judges, and other officials from the possession of and trade in individual stocks. It is also the ban on foreign lobbying, a ban on lobbyist donations to candidates, and the legislature would and suggest a lifetime ban on lobbying by the parliaments, presidents, and Agency heads.
As Democrats, to fight trump to the nomination of judge Brett Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court race, your proposal would also require that the Federal court of justice, ethics rules for other Federal judges.
Warren was expelled, as a possible 2020 Democratic presidential candidate. Asked Tuesday about whether or not she ran, she wiped away the question by saying that she was not running for President in 2020, but with the senator in 2018.
But in her speech, a couple of shots took on President Trump directly on the issue of corruption. She said the trump-administration was not the cause of the corruption in DC, but “they are simply the biggest stinkiest example of this.”
Your draft would politicians require to release more tax and financial information, as you suggested Trump might be susceptible to blackmail by foreign powers.
“Right now, the problem starts with the President, the power may be vulnerable to financial blackmail by a hostile alien, and God knows who else-because there is a President and his family personally benefited from the hundreds of policy decisions every day-but we don’t know that, because he show us his tax returns and not get rid of his personal business interests,” she said.
