Eight bombrieven intercepted in Greece

Greek safety experts have Monday eight bombrieven discovered and defused in a postsorteercentrum in Athens. It is still unclear who is the sender of the letters.

The bombrieven are of the same type that was previously at the German ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Paris landed.

Circles around the ministry of Defence to establish that the letters were intended for different persons and institutions outside Greece. The letters will be further investigated by the Greek police.

In the IMF in Paris was Thursday, a worker injured when she was a bombrief opened. The bombrief was addressed to the European representative of the IMF, Jeffrey Franks. A day earlier, intercepted in the mailroom of the German ministry of Finance in Berlin, a letter with explosives and an ignitor in it which was addressed to minister, Wolfgang Schäuble.

Responsibility

A left-autonomous group in Greece, the ‘Conspiracy of Vuurcellen’, claimed the responsibility for the bombrief in Germany. The autonomen have declared themselves in solidarity with the convicted members of their organization and like-minded groups in Greek prisons.

The autonomen have not yet said whether they also the sender of the letter in Paris, but it is assumed that they are also behind that bombrief were. Or the discovered letters in Greece also come from the group being examined.
