Egyptian security forces have forty militants were killed during two separate operations.
The militants were planning to carry out attacks on churches, government agencies, the armed forces and tourist centres, said the ministry of Interior on Saturday in a statement.
The operations took place in the Sinai desert and in Giza, a suburb of Cairo.
It is not reported whether the operations have anything to do with the bomb attack on the bus with tourists from Friday. It had three Vietnamese and an Egyptian tour guide to life.
