Egbert-Jan Weeber, playing roles that are far from him
Egbert-Jan Weeber finds it unfortunate that he is often cast as “the sweet, shy boy”. The actor would rather roll that was miles away from him to give.
“I play the beloved roles as far as possible from everyday life,” says the 36-year-old actor in Viva. “The more, the better. A film like Michiel de Ruyter was I crazy to do. You can’t really not happier than for me to say: we are going to your colored lenses do, put a big wig on your head and draw you a costume to wear. And or as another accent want to learn. I would like transform it, really someone else.”
The most extreme role is, however, often are not, according to Weeber, who in Michiel de Ruyter in the role of Willem III of Orange played. “You come in a certain box where you subsequently find it difficult to convenience. In my case the box of the sweet, shy boy. There is rarely thought to themselves: we go him or her a role, which totáál the opposite of what people expect. I think that is a pity.”
“At the same time, I know plenty of actors who can’t even get by and I have in any case work”, Weeber further. “This is but a small country, of course. In addition, the budgets are not large, and so there is also not much time for a film to run.”
