Last week, reports surfaced that the company has instructed the crews to tell us that, “everyone is welcome”, in an attempt to come up with a more “inclusive and welcoming environment for non-binary and transgender individuals. The change comes after a doctor in the U. k. called out the airline on social media over the summer, reports the Metro.

“Dear EasyJet, if you’re in some kind of contest to see how many times you can reinforce the gender binary? “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, perfumes, strictly, [separated] by ladies and gentlemen.’ Ditch the sir/lady, too,” Dr. Andi Fugard, University of London, Birbeck tweeted in the month of August. “An organization as large as yours should do much better.”

In response, a representative of the airline with the name, She told Fugard to that of the carrier has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and that the airline is working on “connecting people” instead of ” they have to share.

When reached for comment, a spokesperson for the carrier provided Fox News with the following statement:

“We want to put our crew to welcome everyone on board and have some guidance for them on how to be the best way to do that in a way that is inclusive for everybody,” a rep said on Monday. The EasyJet staffer also stated that the airline is no longer “above” or “no” to the use of the phrase, “ladies and gentlemen,” but rather, “provided guidance on how to greet customers in a friendly and inclusive manner.”

In related news, an Air Canada also nixed the traditional “ladies and gentlemen,” salute to the gender-neutral term “everyone” in the October. And last week, American Airlines has introduced a binary booking options for your customers, perhaps inspired by United Airlines, which in March became the first air carrier in the united states, to provide non-binary gender-booking options for customers to make use of all of the books of the channels.
