Dutch sailor Heiner on medaillekoers at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Finnklasse
Sailor Nicholas Heiner is medaillekoers after the third world cup day in the olympic Finnklasse. The world champion of 2014 in the laser class climbed Wednesday of the sixth to third position in the general classification.
The 28-year-old Heiner won on the shore of lake Balaton, in Hungary, the fifth race, and came in the sixth race when third over the finish line.
The Swede Max Salminen leads the standings with 26 points, followed by the Brit Ed Wright with 30 points. Heiner has, just as the Frenchman Jonathan Lobert 35 points.
There are still four qualifiers and a medalrace on the program. “We’re getting better in the event”, commented Heiner back. “This was a great day. I think there’s still plenty can happen in the standings.”
Heiner picked up three years ago in the Spanish Santander and the world title in the laser class by Australian Tom Burton (second), and the Brit Nick Thompson (third) behind them.
The Dutchman seized last year just in addition to participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and hopes to be there about three years in Tokyo, however, to the Finnklasse.
