Dutch football association experimented with penalty shoot-out

The Dutch football association KNVB are going to in the coming season experiment with the penalty shoot-out. The series will, according to the so-called ABBA-principle be taken. That means that one team (A) starts and then the other team (B) two times in a row on the turn.

The football association expects that this procedure is both teams a more equal chance at winning the penalty shoot-out, because the pressure is fairer distributed among players of both teams.

Traditionally, penalty shoot-outs according to the well-known ABAB principle held.

Last season, the referee at the bekerduel between the amateurs of HSV Hoek and Lisse for the commotion by the penalty, already on the ABBA principle. That was not allowed. The penalty had to be taken.

Except with the penalty shoot-out experiments, the KNVB with a yellow or red card for teamofficials, such as the trainer or caregiver. Giving a card is, according to the bond a clearer means of communication from the referee to the teamofficial and the public.
