Dutch film director René van Nie (78) died
The Dutch film director René van Nie is Tuesday, died on Aruba. The filmmaker, writer, and father of Nada van Nie died of a cardiac arrest.

René van Nie made in the period 1974-1982 five fiction films: Five of the Vierdaagse (1974), Child of the Sun (1975), A Silent Love (1977), Shame (1978) and Sabine (1982).
In particular, Child of The Sun, about a woman with mental health problems, and A Quiet Love (with Cor van Rijn) reaped a lot of praise. Of Nie was one of the first independent Dutch filmmakers, that his productions are largely self-financed. His archive, he has transferred to film institute Eye in Amsterdam.
In addition to his film work he wrote several books and columns for Aruban newspapers Since 1988 has lived and worked in the Not on Aruba. In Oranjestad is he Saturday, privately cremated.
