‘Dutch employee the most energetic and productive
The Dutch are in relation to their European colleagues the most energetic and productive during the workday.
In addition, Dutch employees are the least burden of energiedips: one in three have less feel energetic after lunch, compared to 47 percent in the rest of Europe.
This is apparent from the European Eating at Work-research of Eurest carried out by TNS among 9.477 workers in European countries.
In the Netherlands we take the least pause (26 minutes), and yet we feel the most energetic. The research shows that the quality of the meal has the greatest impact on the productivity, not the time which it is spent.
Remco Kokkelink, commercial director at Eurest: “Where in other countries it is often lunch with hot meals, we eat in the Netherlands light with a sandwich, fresh salad or soup. That is not so heavy on the stomach, so that workers suffer less of a dip after lunch. In addition, in comparison with other countries, many with colleagues, had lunch, which has a positive effect on the perceived productivity.”
Another example of good habits of Dutch employees is the drinking. On a day, on average, 5.9 glass of beer. That is more than one glass above the European average. Tap water is the most popular, followed by filter coffee and tea.
Kokkelink: “Water is the best consumption, and has a proven positive effect on productivity.”
Another explanation for the high energielevel, is the aim. 78 percent of the Dutch employees says (almost) always a good night’s sleep, in the rest of Europe, this is 67 percent. In Ireland and England has 61 percent of the employees usually get a good night’s sleep.
In the Netherlands we sleep an average of less than 8 hours per night. One in three sleeps between 5 and 7 hours. Five percent of the Dutch sleep each night less than 5 hours.
