Dutch drink less of prosecco
The number of gallons of drinking prosecco in the past years has decreased by 19 percent. It remains, however prosecco is three times greater than champagne, that 1 percent decrease in the literaantal. In the revenue remains champagne bigger.
In Europe, the situation is the other way around, here is champagne in value is greater but there are more litres of prosecco drunk. That allows the supplier of big data to IRI. The United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany are included.
With prosecco in the Netherlands there is a decline of 14 percent in sales, while the sales of champagne is growing. The champagne sales amounted to 10 million euro and shows a growth of 5 percent in value.
The European champagne market continues to grow light in value, with an increase of 0.9 percent, but a decline of 0.3 percent in volume. It is striking that France, where the most champagne is produced, a decline of 1.2 percent. In total, there are in France 921 million euros in champagne sold, this is 66 percent of all champagne sales measured in Europe.
Prosecco is the cheapest in Spain, almost a quarter of the British price. In Spain consumed 200 times more cava than prosecco. Cava grows greatly in volume in most countries, also in the Netherlands grows cava with 19 percent.
