Drought in Mallorca is now also the tourists

The ongoing water shortage on the Spanish island of Mallorca is now also the many tourists.

On the beaches of the towns of Playa de Palma and Calvià, the beach showers shut off. The measure is part of the emergency plan that is in force.

Previously, among others, were already quite a few fountains have been drained, and for the cleaning of the streets and the watering of grass is reusable wastewater – the so-called gray water – is used.

The water resources in Mallorca are on the deepest level in ten years time. During the last winter it barely rained. In 27 municipalities of the Balearic islands is the warning phase of power. (Belga)
