Soufyan Ahannach makes the transition from Almere City to Brighton & Hove Albion, next season, plays in the Premier League. The born in Amsterdam, the draw for three years.

The 21-year-old left his new club team mate Davy Pröpper, who this week happened to PSV. Brighton and Almere City have not disclosed how much money the transfer is involved. Vincent Janssen is the move for 500.00 euros to AZ for the biggest transfer in the clubhistorie of Almere City.

“This is a big step in my career. I make a beautiful transfer to a beautiful competition,” says Ahannach on the website of Almere City. He scored last season eighteen times for Almere City in the Jupiler League and played five years for the club from Flevoland.

“I don’t know if it has happened before that a player from the Jupiler League direct the step to the Premier League. I find it therefore difficult to estimate where I stand and let it all on me, but I have a lot of meaning in them”, says Ahannach.

Goalkeeper Ruud Boffin from MVV in 2010 was the last from the First Division to the Premier League switched over. The Belgian goalkeeper arrived in England, no further than one competitieduel.

A lot of talent

“We are pleased that we Soufyan at our club could welcome. He is a young player with a lot of talent and a huge potential”, says Brighton manager Chris Hughton.

“He has over the years done very well in the Netherlands and we look forward to the coming weeks and months to see what he is capable of.”


Ahannach looks back fondly on his time in Almere. “I have four years in the beginning of the Almere City FC played and in that period I have fully developed, especially in recent years,” says the winger. “For my feeling, I was now ready to take the next step and who is there with Brighton & Hove Albion. It shows once more that Almere City a perfect springboard to the top.”

Pröpper Monday was the most expensive player in the club history of Brighton, with a transfer fee of 11 million euros through bonuses can add up. That clubrecord was Thursday already broken by the opposing team, Jose Izquierdo for 17 million took over Club Brugge.

The Premier League starts on Saturday for Brighton with a home match against Manchester City.
