Dozens of deaths due to floods in Sri Lanka
Due to floods and landslides in Sri Lanka Friday at least 55 people to the life to come, reported the local authorities. More than forty people in the south and west of the country are missing.
Sri Lanka is already for some days ravaged by torrential rain.
The army is called out with boats and helicopters to as many people as possible to safety. Hundreds of residents were forced to leave their home hastily left.
“There have been at least five landslides occurred at various places in Kalutara,” said a politiewoordvoerder about the worst affected district on the west coast.
The rainfall in Sri Lanka are not uncommon. The rainy season runs from may to september.
