Earlier Thursday, Moore’s campaign alleged potential election fraud and asked to stop a circuit judge for a preliminary injunction, Alabama election canvassing board certification of Jones’ victory.

A judge denied the request, leading the Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill to attest to Jones’ victory.

Jones, who will be sworn in Jan. 3, celebrated the certification and vowed an “independent voice” for Alabama.

“I am happy to go to work, the people of Alabama in the new year,” Jones said in a statement. “As I said on election night, our victory marks a new Chapter for our state and the nation.”

Jones has won more than 20,000 votes, as Moore in the Dec. 12 election, the first Democrat to win election to the Senate of the deeply conservative state in 25 years.

A Democrat win the special election for the seat to replace state attorney General Jeff Sessions was to be seen as only a remote possibility a few months ago.

But Jones, a Birmingham lawyer famous for the persecution of the KKK, started a break, Moore was overwhelmed behavior in the last few weeks, with multiple accusations of past sexual misconduct. Moore, former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court because of the accusations that he pursued a romantic relationship with a young girl while he was in his thirties.

Since the election, Moore has refused to admit.

Moore’s lawyer wrote in a comprehensive complaint that he believed there were irregularities during the election, including that the voters can be brought in from other States. He attached a statement from a survey, the workers, they had noted that licenses of Georgia and North Carolina than people registered to vote.

The complaint also points to the higher-than-expected turnout in the race, especially in Jefferson County, said Moore’s numbers were suspiciously low as a direct-ticket Republican votes in about 20 Jefferson County districts. The complaint asked for the investigation of fraud cases and, finally, a new choice.

Merrill said he has not yet found evidence of electoral fraud, but he said, to examine his office is a complaint to Moore.
