Double win Belgian Vermote in the second stage Tour of Britain

The Belgian rider Julien Vermote of Etixx-Quick Step has Monday the second stage in the Tour of Britain to his name. In the slotmeters troefde he is the Brit Stephen Cummings.
Vermote rode in the ride to Kendel the whole day at the front in a breakaway group of fifteen riders remained in the first instance only. In the final ditch Cummings (Dimension Data). In the sprint that followed turned out to be the Belgian just a little faster.
With his victory, picked up Vermote also the leader’s jersey after the first stage of Sunday is still in the hands of André Greipel.
The original group included also Tom Leezer and Bert-Jan Lindeman of the Lotto-Jumbo and Jochem Hoekstra and Martijn Tusveld of Giant-Alpecin.
Tom Dumoulin, who in the Tour of Britain his first laps after his silver medal at the olympic time trial in Rio de Janeiro, ended in eighth. Dylan van Baarle (Cannondale-Drapac) was ninth. The second Dutch finished in the first chasing group at 58 seconds of the winner.
The Tour of Britain goes on until Sunday.
