Domien Verschuuren not afraid of ‘Serious Request-fatigue’
Domien Verschuuren fear not that the people have had enough of NPO 3FM Serious Request. He thinks that the charitable action in the coming years will continue.
“It is a tradition for the Netherlands,” says the 28-year-old NPO 3FM-dj in conversation with NU.nl.
“In 2004 we started and now there are more actions have been added. Serious Request fits in there is still good in between. Next year we are in Apeldoorn and it is up to me, we go in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and to other beautiful cities. I am not afraid that people Serious Request-tired.”
After three days there is the action, more than 1.8 million euro raised for children in vulnerable countries die from the consequences of a pneumonia. Last year was the standings after three days at 3.3 million euros.
“I am extremely happy with this stand. We began on 18 december with zero euro and every day comes something at. If we had done nothing, the counter is still at zero,” says the NPO 3FM-dj.
Negative messages about the standings do him little. “I see them, I read them and forget them immediately. It’s not a race, it is life.”
“We are not looking at last year. It comes to this year, for this purpose, and it fits in with this amount. It is nice to have a rising trend, but it comes every year to another story. It is a self-contained something.”
Verschuuren staying until Saturday 24 december in the Glass House on the Grote Markt in Breda. He is assisted by colleague Frank van der Lende.
