DOJ learned of the Trump-Ukraine phone call from CIA official, days before the complaint was reversed

The Ministry of justice for the first time learned of the controversial conversation between President Trump and the Ukrainian President in mid-August under the direction of a top CIA official for internal matters, Fox News has confirmed.

In the case of a “scheduled” and “routine” call on Aug. 14, the CIA General Counsel Courtney Simmons Elwood notified, John Demers, the top officials in the justice Department’s National Security Division, said the Problem, a source familiar with the sequence of events, Fox News.

According to the source, Demers Elwood contacted the next day for more information, and then went to the White house to read the transcribed notes of trump’s July 25 phone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Demers then discussed the information together with other top Department of justice officials, and the next steps.

According to the source, attorney General Bill Barr was not involved in the talks or briefed on the matter at this point. It is unclear when Barr was informed about the matter, but at least one senior Ministry of justice official to the attention of the call and concerns that surrounds it, to this day.was made

The official whistleblower complaint of this call already had the intelligence community inspector general was transferred to this point. The IG has reported this information on Aug. 12.

But the DOJ apparently learned, the worry days before the complaint was formally turned over to the IG. The inspector General then has the complaint, the Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Joseph Maguire on Aug. 26, the the matter to the Ministry of justice to check the executive privilege referred to in the content of the phone call.

Maguire testified to his treatment of the matter on Thursday before the House Intelligence Committee, defended his actions and citing the “unprecedented” nature of the thing.

The timeline, when the justice learned Ministry first, the call was first, CNN reported on Thursday. The names of the officials involved in these initial discussions have not been known until now.

The call is now in the center of the Democrats ” formal impeachment investigation of the President, known by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week.

The White house released an unclassified version of the transcript of the interview on Wednesday.
