Dog stuffed in trash and dies; owner arrested

A Florida woman who was known to push with her dog in a trash bag and in a dumpster has been charged in the incident, the officials said.

Shawkimo Anderson, 41, sealed “Diamond”, a small Chihuahua in a plastic bag and then in a trash can, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

“Diamond” is found in a sealed trash bag in a container that is in Florida on Saturday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

Anderson — who initially told the police she gave the dog of a woman two months ago, ” she said, and she threw the dog away because they could no longer afford to care for it.

Diamond was found on Saturday after two passers-by heard the dog’s cries coming from the container, and alerted the police. The authorities find the pooch, putting on a pink collar, with a micro-chip pairing her Anderson.

Diamond, who was Anderson’s pet for four years and later died. Her cause of death was not immediately determined.

Anderson was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and released from jail on a $1,000 bond.
