David Allen Sproling, 51, fatally shot a man who he believed stole his tools, police say.
A St. Louis man on Tuesday fatally shot a man who supposedly stealing his tools, authorities said.
David Allen Sproling, 51, was confronted with a man named William Kirkwood, 60, under shot, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. According to the police, Sproling and Kirkwood had been in a fight in the run-up to the shooting. The police believed Sproling had accused Kirkwood of stealing tools from his property.
Charging documents indicated Sproling had tried to keep Kirkwood physically, and fired multiple shots after Kirkwood los pried. Kirkwood was not armed, police said.
The police responded to the scene around 12:30 pm Kirkwood was transported into a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. According to the court documents cited by the Post-Dispatch, Sproling admitted to shooting Kirkwood and gave up his gun.
Sproling was charged Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action, the Post-dispatch reported. The authorities have not indicated whether Sproling aware of shots on Kirkwood or by accident.
