Disney announces free dining for children this summer

Children between the ages of 3 and 9 are eligible for a free dining package when their parents book a Magic Your Way package.

Budget-savvy families are always looking for ways to save costs on a Walt Disney World vacation, and now Disney has announced a new offer that appears to offer monetary help. According to Disney Food Blog, families who book a trip from May 28 to August 30 may be able to get free food for their children.

Children between the ages of 3 and 9 are eligible for a free dining package when their parents book a Magic Your Way package, including a room in a Disney resort, a three-day theme park ticket and Disney Dining Plan for the adults. There are of course exceptions. There are a few dates and villas, suites, and various other types of spaces (such as The Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation) are not eligible for the offer. There are also only a limited number of these still available, and the package must be booked by 1 August.

But is this deal as good as it sounds?

The kids eat free applies to all three levels of the Disney Dining Plan: Quick Service ($21.75 per night per child; $52.49 per adult), Standard ($25.80 per child; $75.40 per adult), Deluxe ($39.90 per child; $116.24 per adult). So, if you opt for the Deluxe Dining Plan, you save $119.70 per child over the three-night stay, but you’re spending $350 on food for each adult. That is a hefty amount.

Disney has traditionally been a free dinner for all guests in the autumn. It is yet to be seen whether or not this children dine for free is the substitution of all free dining or not. But it may be worthwhile to book your vacation to see if you can get a better range of restaurants for 2018.

There are also other ways to save money at Disney than kids eat free. For example, Disney is offering a discount on the price of the room offer at selected resorts for about the same period (June 11 to August 1). You could book a discount on the room, buy tickets from a third party, the supplier, and the budget of your food wisely, and the wind save even more.

Or the free food for kids option is right for you and your family is to you.
