Diakonessenhuis Utrecht calls patients to test for hospital bug
The Diakonessenhuis in Utrecht has 270 people called to be tested for the MRSA bacteria, also known as the ‘hospital bacteria’. They may been in contact with an employee of the hospital, where the bacterium was recently discovered.
Also, some thirty patients in the hospital are tested for a possible infection. That is, according to the zegsvrouw, however, is not the case.
To which department of the hospital it is she doesn’t want to say. You do have the spokeswoman that the employee provisionally stays at home.
Infection with MRSA (Meticilline Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is very dangerous for people with quite reduced resistance. It can lead to pneumonia or blood poisoning.
The bacterium is resistant to conventional antibiotics. MRSA is for healthy people harmless, they are also not sick of it.
