BERLIN (Reuters) – Deutsche Post DHL set a new target for an operating profit of $ 5.3 billion euros ($5.77 billion) for 2022, and said it would invest in the field of warehouse automation and analytics to try to keep up with the fast-growing e-commerce business.
The creation of the strategy for the next five years, the German postal and logistics group, has also confirmed its guidance for an operating profit of € 5 billion by the year 2020.
In view of the current uncertain economic climate, the head of finance Melanie Kreis, said that the company’s new direction would be for a period of three years and rolled forward each year.
For the 2020-2022 time period, and the company is planning to invest between 8.5 and 9.5 million euros in total for the overhaul of the IT systems, and retrains the staff is friendly, the application of data analysis to assist in better planning the delivery routes, and to predict package volumes.
