DUNDEE, Fla. – Authorities say a Florida detective fatally shot a suspect who was attacking a other detective.
A Polk County Sheriff’s Office news release says the shooting occurred Friday morning at a Dundee home.
The officials say two computer crimes detectives were responding to a tip that the 21-year-old Andres Estrada had downloaded child pornography. The investigators reported finding child pornography on Estrada’s phone.
A detective ran to another room to call his supervisor, and the authorities say Estrada attacked the other detective. Estrada allegedly ignored commands to get out of the much smaller, female detective, so her partner fired multiple times, killing Estrada. The female detective was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital.
The races of Estrada and the detectives were not immediately released.
