The exhibition gathers 30 amateur artists, from photographers to video artists, who were selected by a jury with, inter alia, the photographer Athos Burez.
The theme of more = more is ‘excess’. That is also reflected in the position: work will be in addition to, through and from each other, with the colors and textures worked, and details are extremely blown up to muurhoge prints. This creates a dialogue between the work and come to new meanings to the above.
The exhibition celebrates the transformation of the Center for Beeldexpressie, a membership-based organisation assistance, advice, guidance, training and exporuimtes offers on Flemish non-professional filmmakers, photographers and media artists.
That Center changes its name (WIDESCREEN), but also and especially of profile: the threshold of the membership falls away, and WIDESCREEN is an open resource for all film-makers, photographers and media artists.
The curator of the expo is Tom Van Der Borght, the fashion designer who is also a video clip for a song from The Of Jets made. ‘more = more for me is about layering, the discovery of hidden elements, pushing the current boundaries and standards’, says Van Der Borght.
‘It refers to me also to the state of mind of the artist: the artist-is not a certification, or standards, but is in each of us as potential. It’s about having an open, vulnerable and generous intention and attitude in your work.’
