Democrats choose the former minister Obama cabinet to become party
The former Us secretary of Labor, Tom Perez, was Saturday elected as the new party chairman of the Democrats.
The politician made between 2013 and 2017 as part of the cabinet of former president Barack Obama.
Perez defeated in the second round of voting for the progressive candidate Keith Ellison, who was supported by senator Bernie Sanders. The Democratic partijverkiezing was, according to Reuters, one of the most visited and most competitive in decades.
Perez gets the daunting task for the Democratic y to unite after Hillary Clinton on behalf of the Democrats in the presidential elections lost to Donald Trump.
Crisis of confidence
“We have to deal with a crisis of confidence and a relevantiecrisis,” said Perez. He promised the party members in the fight against Trump to lead and the Democratic y from the ground up.
Hillary Clinton congratulated Perez on Twitter with the presidency. She speaks of her trust from a “strong, united party that only want the best for the future of the country”.
