Just a week after celebrating six years of sobriety, Demi Lovato shocked fans when she revealed that she considered suicide at the young age of seven years.
In a new interview with Dr. Phil, the singer opened up about the harbouring of suicidal thoughts hard to stay sober and her road to recovery.
“The first time I was suicidal was when I was seven, and I had this fascination with death,” the singer said on Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil.” “I have experienced things I haven’t talked about and don’t know if I will ever talk to.”
The 25-year-old singer announced that Dr. Phil that if a child is struggling with depression and bioplar disorder, she thought that there had to be a way to end her suffering. “At seven, I knew that if I put my own life that the pain would end.”
The decision is not the end of her life, and to cope with her pain, the singer made steps to live a better life, but admitted that it is not easy for her. “It came back when I was bullied; it was a few times when I was struggling with depression—my bipolar disorder,” Lovato explained. “I turned to cutting, and there was a while there when my mom was afraid to wake me up in the morning, she didn’t know whether I would live or not, because every time I went deeper and deeper.”

The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer said that she was bullied at a young age for appearing on the TV show “Barney and Friends,” and later, girls who she thought were friends, turned on her and helped with the dissemination of a “suicide petition” that went around the school.
“I was bullied when I was 12,” the star is known. “I was looking for something to numb me out and to fit in and I turned to alcohol and that is where I to my relief.”
In addition to talking about her personal struggle, the stars also opened up about her relationship with her alcoholic father, who left Lovato and her mother when she was a child.
“He was coarse. He was mean, but he wanted to be a good man and he wanted his family, and when my mother married my stepfather, he still had this big heart, where he would say, ‘I’m so happy that he care of you and do the work that I wish I could do.” “
