Two men on board a Delta flight from Maine to Atlanta and are hailed as heroes after helping to topics of a passenger who has a disturbing threats.
James Tunnell, an ex-corrections officer, was on board Delta Flight 1249 from Portland to Atlanta on Thursday, when he and his colleague Ashley Decker heard another passenger caused a commotion from the back of the plane.
“I heard a lot of screaming in the back. One of the passengers was punching [overhead seat] light on,” Tunnell told Fox 5. “Passengers told me that he wants to take the plane down.”

Decker added that the man was attempting to punch other travelers, as well as the windows of the plane.
“It was kind of scary. 9/11 went off immediately in my head,” she told Fox 5.
When the man locked himself in a toilet, Tunnell walked to the back of the plane, where he was accompanied by another man who identified himself as a member of the Coast Guard. A flight attendant on the condition that the men with handcuffs, and the two then worked together with the crew messing with the man back in his chair.
The pair managed to subdue the unruly passenger, despite him trying to bite Tunnell “a few times” Tunnell said. They then remained by his chair and watched over him until the plane landed.
“There was a lot of lives are at stake, where people could be potentially hurt,” said Tunnell.

Passengers reportedly started to clap once they’re safely on the ground, and Delta, has also since thanked the men for their help
“Delta flight 1249 from Portland, Maine to Atlanta and was met by the enforcement of law in Atlanta due to a customer the fault on the board. Delta appreciates the assistance of the customers who helped the crew and applauds the professionalism of our flight attendants for their efforts in deescalating the situation. The safety and security of our customers and the crew are always Delta’s highest priority,” the airline said in a statement obtained by Fox News.
