Of the nearly 200 passengers aboard a Delta flight from New York’s JFK airport to Los Angeles on Wednesday, and described the nightmare flight after an extensive holdups resulted in an 18-hour delay before take-off.

Delta flight DL975 was scheduled to depart New York at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, but do not leave it until the next morning due to mechanical and weather issues, the Business Insider reported.

The flight was initially delayed for about an hour, but it quickly turned into an hour-long nightmare after a series of additional delays.

The flight experience was even worse, passengers say, because of a lack of communication and lack of customer support, and facilities to be provided by the Delta staff.

Several celebrities were among the passengers, reportedly including Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson, “Strange Things”, star, Dacre Montgomery, and a number of the members of the cast of ABC’s “Dancing with The Stars.”

Emma Slater is a professional dancer on “Dancing With The Stars,” tweeted a video of the stunned passengers to respond to a Delta gate agent informed everyone, after hours of waiting, that they could not get hotel rooms to accommodate them for the overnight delay.

“A shame,” Slater wrote. “@Delta will tell you of the hundreds of passengers on a flight, 975 (after waiting on the tarmac for a total of 8 hours, and that you get out of the plane two more times, for a variety of reasons including but not limited to mechanical) that they do not have to provide hotels for us.”

A number of passengers said that they were at a given point in time is to wait on the plane for four hours, and took in a total of eight hours at the airport before the flight was postponed to the next day, according to the company.

“I have been living in this area right now,” tweeted Buzzfeed employee, Matthew K. Begbie, who said that he was on the run. “I do not remember what the rest of the world at this level. A Baby is born. People have lost their lives. As the world turns, but on the flight 975 will be forever.”

The passengers reportedly boarded the flight at the time, but there is a mechanical problem with the landing door that caused the initial delay. After the mechanical problem has been solved, the predicted bad weather has caused delays. An hour later, the plane returned to the gate because one of the pilots had reached the FAA-mandated maximum working hours, mandatory rest period, which is also known as a “time out.”
