Delta Air Lines to cancel 625 flights due to snowstorm

The large aircraft had to cancel more than 600 flights of the largest Atlanta hub.

The severity of the storm forced Delta Air Lines to cancel 625 flights scheduled in Atlanta – world’s busiest airport.

The Georgia-based aircraft had to increase cancellations throughout the Friday as crews worked to remove ice from the aircraft. Atlanta is under a winter storm warning until 10 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Aircraft on the worlds had canceled at least 947 flights to, from or within the United States by Friday afternoon, FlightAware.com reported, with the most grounded flights from the international airport Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

As of Sunday, the airport reported only six cancellations. During the night, the blizzard had dropped at least six inches of snow in the Atlanta area, with some parts of the metropolitan area of reporting up to a foot of snow.
