Talk about a headache.

Images of a fight between two male deer went viral after the deer locked horns and wouldn’t unlock for about two hours.

Approximately 200 images were taken by wildlife photographer Ingo Gerlach, who watched the action unfold in the Sauerland forest, Germany, reports SWNS.

“At first I thought this would be just a short skirmish of the deer,” said Gerlach, who is German.

But after the clash went on for more than 20 minutes, Gerlach ventured closer, noting it “was a very hard fight.” The two males were evenly matched, with no clear winner.

“Each one of the deer tried to use the power of the opponent with their head in the knees, but it is clear that both the males are almost as strong,” Gerlach said. “So the warriors are more or less lifted up their rears to achieve a still better. After about two hours of fighting the deer prefer to spread.”

He added that both the males were “exhausted” and had their tongue hanging out with sweaty fur.

Males will fight each other for a variety of reasons, including an increase in testosterone, increased aggression, and during the breeding season.
