Dead and several wounded in Venezuela during confrontation Brazilian border

Venezuelan security forces have Friday’s fire opened on civilians at the border with Brazil. It fell at least one dead and got several people hurt, tell eyewitnesses to Reuters.

Also, the American news agency AP reports on the basis of high-ranking sources in Venezuela that a person is killed in the confrontation. The mayor of the border town of Gran Sabana, Emilio Gonzalez, tells AP that it’s going to be a woman from the indigenous community.

The wounded are treated at a medical centre at the border. According to the doctors, most of them gunshot wounds.

The confrontation took place near the southern border village Kumarakapay. Members of the ethnic group of Pemon clashed with the National Guard of Venezuela and the military, with tanks on the road to the border with Brazil. According to Gonzalez, the soldiers shot with rubber bullets and fired it with tear gas.

Citizens in the border region would have wanted to prevent that the army, the border would close.

President Maduro has border with Brazil closed

The Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro decided Thursday to the border with Brazil to close to prevent the opposition supplies the country brings.
