David Bowie and Leonard Cohen are posthumously nominated for the Brit Awards, the most important British music awards.
Bowie has a chance to win the award for best male artist and with Blackstar on the price for best album. The Canadian Cohen is nominated in the category best international male artist. That, reports the BBC.
In addition to the January 2016 died Bowie, his only non-white musicians nominated in the category best male artist. This is in contrast to last year, when an almost entirely white shortlist led to protests, including a call for a boycott.
Leonard Cohen who, as well as David Bowie with Blackstar, with his last album, You want It Darker on seemed to make up for his last stage of life, died on the 11th november 2016 at the age of 82.
The Brit Awards will be presented on 22 February in the O2 Arena in London. The Canadian singer Michael Buble presents the show.
