Danger of tsunami after massive earthquake in Chile seems to be gone
Off the coast of Chile has Sunday afternoon a severe earthquake occurred. There gold several hours a tsunamiwaarschuwing, but that is again withdrawn.
The epicenter of the quake with a force of 7.7 was 225 kilometers southwest of Puerto Montt in southern Chile.
The expectation was that the coast of Chile would be hit by waves up to three metres above the normal level. Residents and tourists located along the coast found were strongly called beaches to leave and higher areas to search.
Certainly four thousand people would be evacuated. Around 17: 00 hours (Dutch time), the warning is withdrawn.
The Chilean disaster stations reported shortly after the quake that there have been no reports of dead or injured had been received.
