Cummings fights ‘baseless’ allegations against the wife, a non-profit Agency

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings is fighting against accusations that his wife, the non-profit organization violated its tax-free status and noted a potential conflict of interest with the work of his congressional panel.

Cummings, D-Md., blasted a complaint to the Internal Revenue Service, the against his wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, who sits as Chairman of the Maryland Democratic party and operates a non-profit group and a for-profit consulting firm, as “baseless” and partisan.

“These are baseless allegations coming from a group funded, by the said of extreme-right mega-donors known for their political hit jobs,” Cummings said in a statement to Fox News. “I am confident that you will be exposed for what they really are – a made-up distraction from the important work on behalf of the Americans, such as the reduction of the skyrocketing prices for prescription drugs.”

The complaint, filed to the IRS, the conservative watchdog group the National Legal Policy Center, and first reported by the Washington Examiner that allegedly Rockeymoore Cummings’ non-Profit organization Center for Global Policy Solutions, it overlaps with your for-profit firm, Global Policy Solutions, LLC, and allegedly can be used to derive “illegal private advantage.”

According to the Examiner’s report, Global Policy Solutions 6.2 million and received over $in grants between 2013 and 2016. The report claims that several of the non-profit donors included Google, J. P. Morgan and prudential supervision, and all business interests had before the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Cummings and could pose a conflict of interest.

Rockeymoore Cummings, in a statement to The Washington Post last week, blasted the report and the complaint as a “hit piece”.

“It seems that a conservative management group and a news outlet . . . the insistence of a hit piece filled with faulty research, lies and innuendo in an attempt to tarnish my personal reputation, professional work and public service, as well as that of my wife,” Rockeymoore Cummings said in a statement to The Post, calling the effort a “shameful attempt to intimidate my family into silence in such a crucial moment in the history of our nation.”

Meanwhile, Cummings’ panel is currently conducting several trump-focused studies—both out of interest in the President Trump’s tax returns to information about the White house the controversial security review process.
