‘Crowded intensivecare departments for children by RS-virus’
Intensivecare departments for children are crowded by a large influx of young patients with the RS-virus, writes that the NOS Wednesday.
By the crowds of children to other hospitals in the country are transported, some of them were even transferred to foreign countries, says pediatrician Frederique Hofstede in the radio News and Co.
The RS virus occurs mainly in the winter. By the virus, people may have a cold, children may, for example, an ear infection.
The capacity problems occur mainly in university hospitals, which are also the only hospitals with intensivecare departments for children. At the UMC Utrecht are non-emergency surgery postponed to the hustle and bustle, writes the NOS. In Rotterdam, the leaves are withdrawn from the staff.
Pediatrician Léon Shop of the Spaarne Gasthuis Haarlem says against regional broadcaster, NH do not know how many children the virus exactly have incurred. “However, we have noticed that this year more serious symptoms caused than other years.”
