HOUSTON – A criminal investigation has been launched into a dog died on board of a Houston to New York, United Airlines flight after a flight attendant ordered the animal to be placed in the plane of the overhead bin.
In a statement late Wednesday, the Harris County, Texas, district attorney’s office said its animal cruelty department works with the county animal cruelty task force to investigate the incident that took place on the Monday evening flight.
The statement said the prosecutors do not decide whether criminal charges until the investigation is finished.
United Airlines says the flight attendant who ordered the passenger to her pet carrier in the overhead bin did not know that there is a puppy in. However, the family and the other passengers in contradiction with the airline account, saying: the dog barks were heard from the inside of the tray.
