An American handelsrechter has decided that Apple with some iPhones infringed on a patent of Qualcomm, reports Bloomberg.
As a result of the ruling, advises the court importblokkade of on iPhones in the United States. That advice should still be taken into consideration by the handelswaakhond International Trade Commission (ITC) and along the cabinet of president Donald Trump, before a ban is actually in effect.
In the past, American presidents an import ban often averted. In 2013 spoke to the cabinet of the then president Barack Obama of a veto. When won Samsung a lawsuit from Apple because iPhones and iPads infringed on the patents of the South Korean manufacturer.
Apple has, according to the court without the permission of a patent of Qualcomm, but it is not known in which iPhones. On two other patents in the lawsuit by Apple is not an infringement, stated the court.
Qualcomm and Apple have not yet on the statement responded to.
Qualcomm has long been a major supplier of iPhone modems that connect to cellular networks. The last few years, the two companies are in different lawsuits involved. Since last year, Apple is completely stopped with the decrease of Qualcomm-modems.
