Corruption accused president Japanese Olympic Committee resigns

Tsunekazu Takeda will depart in June as president of the Japanese Olympic Committee. The 71-year-old Japanese, who is associated with corruption, shall not be eligible for a second term.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC), at the beginning of this year an investigation into possible corruption in the allocation of the Olympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo. Takeda would be a different IOC member, have been to the Games.

“I am convinced that I have nothing illegal have done,” said Takeda Tuesday at a press conference. “It hurts me that there are now so many fuss is around my person, but I see it as my responsibility to be my last term.”
