Julia Salazar, a democratic socialist, whose campaign for a seat in the New York state Senate, was overshadowed by a series of bizarre revelations about her past, crashes a 16-year incumbent, on Thursday, the primaries.

With 88 percent of precincts reporting, Salazar led the state sen Martin Dilan of 58 percent to 42 percent. You will not be facing a Republican opponent in November.

Salazar’s win in the Brooklyn-based 18th Senate district added the beat to the list of rebels to the Empire State Democrats, who have established primary season.

The 27-year-old first came under the microscope last month, when the online magazine Tablet reported that, in contrast to your assertions, an immigrant from Colombia, struggled financially, Salazar was actually born in Florida and had to Fund hundreds of thousands of dollars in a trust.

The magazine was also Salazar’s political and religious transformation, from a Republican, anti-abortion Christian, a hard-left, Jewish Democrat during her years at Columbia University. A group revoke the approval after learning Salazar graduated from Columbia, she said, had, on his survey.

In response to the report, Salazar said, that you “accidentally” your story.

Control of Salazar was more intense when the Tablet published a follow-up report that her 2011 arrest on allegations of bank fraud by the divorced wife of a famous neighbor, former New York Met Keith Hernandez. Salazar was not followed, and later sued Hernandez’s wife, Kai Hernandez. Salazar claimed Kai Hernandez tried to frame her because the woman mistakenly believed Salazar was having an affair with her husband. Kai Hernandez settled the lawsuit for $20,000.

Earlier this week, the Daily caller Salazar said-to identify the campaign via the publication of a story that you, as a woman, the accused, anonymously, a spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sexual assault.

You don’t want to say, be outed against their will, Salazar tweeted about the incident, said the Netanyahu-aide, David Keyes, had bullied her into an unwanted sexual activity.

Keyes calls it a false claim ” by someone who has proven repeatedly to be dishonest about their own lives.” He has since denied allegations from other women who accused him of aggressive sexual behavior.

At the end of the questions about Salazar’s past were not enough to derail their campaign, which began attracting great attention after a fellow democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez scored a surprise victory in June, the Congress primary over U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley.

Salazar built a grassroots to overturn campaign, Dilan, on the grounds that he had not done enough to help the poor or to stop the gentrification of the district. You attacked him for receiving campaign contributions from real estate interests.

For his part, Dilan Salazar as a hypocrite and a gentrifier, is described and promised his constituents would stick with him.

Dilan was first elected in 2002 and was a member of the state Senate Democratic conference leadership. He spent 10 years in the New York City Council, before he, as a member of the Senate.
