Comedian Kevin Hart scholarships to 3 Xavier students

NEW ORLEANS – Three Xavier University of Louisiana and students belong to a group that exchanges thanks to actor and comedian Kevin Hart is “Help From the Heart Love.’

Heart has joined forces with the United Negro College Fund and KIPP — Knowledge Is Power Program to help 18 students earn a college degree. The new $600,000 scholarship program will provide funding for the support of KIPP students from eight cities to attend from 11 historically black colleges and universities. The Xavier students freshman Lauryn Williams, junior Gaja Brooks and junior Mack Williams.

The recipients were selected on the basis of their academic and personal performance.

In a statement Tuesday, Hart notes that education and knowledge are powerful. He says that he only wanted to do his part in providing opportunities for future leaders.
